Spatial Stochastic Models for Cellular Networks

Recently, studies on spatial stochastic models for wireless communication networks have been attracting much attention. In the analysis of these spatial models for the wireless networks, the stationary Poisson point processes have widely used to model the configuration of wireless nodes. While such a Poisson process based model is tractable to analyze, it is an idealized one and ignores the spatial correlation among the wireless nodes. In a real cellular network, however, we can observe the repulsive nature of the configuration of macro base stations. In this report, we show the basic results of the performance analysis of the cellular network model such that the base stations are deployed according to the Ginibre point process, which is one of the determinantal point processes and accounts for the repulsion among the base stations. Furthermore, we give a brief review on some recent extensions, to the best of the knowledge of the author. |
