Evaluation of Network Configuration Architecture for Fast Path Recovery from Large Scale Failure in Backbone Networks

(in English) Telecommunication services are required to continue serving even after a large-scale failure caused by a disaster. It is possible for carriers to continue providing telecommunication services by reconfiguring logical topologies even after the large-scale failure because the redundant equipment is available in their backbone networks. However, it may take long time to complete the reconfiguration when a large number of equipment are arranged and a large number of logical topologies are required to be reconfigured. To address this problem, our group proposed a novel network configuration architecture, which makes the reconfiguration time shorter by employing a hierarchical architecture with multiple controller and recovers amount of flowing traffic quickly by sorting the path recovery order in accordance with amount of traffic flowing on each path in descending order. In this paper, through practical experiments, we confirm that our network configuration architecture reduces the reconfiguration time to recover 80% of whole traffic by 1/7 in a network comprising 1,000 nodes per a domain.
