A Study on Wideband Filters Based on Microstrip Parallel-Coupled lines

(in English) This paper discusses the design of wideband filters consisting of microstrip parallel-coupled lines, with an emphasis on the influence of the difference between the propagation constant of the even-mode and that of the odd-one to the characteristics of the filter. First, in terms of the transmission line theory, ABCD matrix of a general model of the parallel-coupled-line, whose propagation constant of the even-mode is different with that of the odd-one, is derived as well as the corresponding equivalent circuit. Then, the newly-derived ABCD-matrix and the equivalent circuit are confirmed by an EM-model-based simulation, whereas the influence of the different propagation constants of the even- and odd modes is investigated. Finally, by the comparison of the transmission characteristics based on the models with and without the consideration of the difference between the propagation constant of the even mode and that of the odd one, the reason of the appearance of the spurious in the stopband of the synthesized wideband filter is clarified.
