[Invited Talk] Cloud-oriented Spatial Information Creation for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

(in English) Recently, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated vehicle technologies are attracting attention, that are using various onboard sensors; camera, millimeter-wave radar, GPS, and so on. Then, not only onboard sensor information but also a rich digital road map and accurate vehicle positions are very important to recognize road traffic environments and to decide an appropriate driving plan for ADAS. However, accurate and detail digital map information (spatial information) requires extremely high cost to create and maintain it in reliable condition. Moreover, Local Dynamic Map (LDM), that is mapped various dynamic information related to driving operation and updated with sufficiently-high rate, is also important to understand surrounding traffic environment including motions of vehicles. These spatial information technologies are expected to be also effective to realize safer and smoother traffic flow and to predict the motion of each vehicle for Cooperative driving assistance system. In this report, we introduce an approach to create spatial information on cloud-server and Local Dynamic Map, and then describe about an expectation to radio communication technologies.
