This paper presents a disk-loaded monopole stacked with patch antenna (DLMP) to realize the polarization-controlled MIMO antenna with a low-profile structure. The DLMP has three driven ports, each of which can create independent radiation patterns with orthogonally polarized characteristics. The design procedure for the DLMP in terms of the input impedance is demonstrated. A design example is presented to achieve an overall height of 10 mm at 2 GHz. The calculated results show that the DLMP has well-defined monopole mode and patch mode radiation patterns with orthogonal polarization by controlling the degree of detune of the two antennas. This feature can be applied to the polarization-controlled MIMO antenna. |
