Method for Estimating the Shape of Contact Area between a Calligraphy Brush and Paper by Image Analysis
Naoko Ito, Tatsuya Aoyagi (Tsuda College) LOIS2014-91
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is difficult to write calligraphic characters with a conventional digital input device like a stylus or a tablet, because it does not have elasticity similar to a calligraphy brush, nor similar friction among a brush and paper. Therefore we propose FUDEICHI that uses a real calligraphy brush as an input device through video image analysis. In this article, we describe image analysis methods that would be used in FUDEICH to detect a calligraphy brush, to estimate the position of the tread and to estimate the shape of contact area between a brush and paper.
Keyword (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) calligraphic brush / drop-shaped contact area / image processing / local feature / connected-component labeling / / /
