Performance Evaluation of Super High Bit Rate Massive MIMO Transmission using Higher Frequency Bands in Multiuser Environment

(in English) Towards realization of a 5G wireless access network with super high bit rate and capacity, it is necessary to introduce a small cell using higher frequency bands and massive MIMO. Our previous works evaluate a 20 Gbps of downlink massive MIMO transmission in 20 GHz and 400 MHz bandwidth introducing a uniform planar array (UPA) with 256 antenna elements in single user (SU) environment. In addition, we clarified that a coverage considering the antenna height and total transmission power of 30 dBm. On the other hands, massive MIMO transmission in multiuser (MU) environment using higher frequency bands is not discussed sufficiently. We expect to improve throughput in MU environment because of decreasing a correlation among user’s propagation channels and obtaining beamforming gain using massive MIMO. In this report, we evaluate performances of MU massive MIMO up to 4 users by the link level simulations and show that the total throughput of all users can achieve more than 20 Gbps. In addition, we also show that a coverage with the antenna height of 2.5 m for base station (BS) and 1.5 m for mobile station (MS) in MU environment.
