[MiWEBA] Study on dynamic ON/OFF cell association in cloud cooperated HetNet

(in English) The mobile traffic explosion has become a remarkable issue due to the proliferation of smart devices such as smart phones or tablets. The design of 5G (the next generation of cellular networks) to be both spectral/energy efficient is now a hot discussion topic among researchers and industrial partners. In this paper, we consider the future cloud cooperated HetNet which enables global resource optimization among small cells. The architecture allows dynamic ON/OFF of smallcell BSs in adaptation to daily data traffic. This paper investigates a joint optimization problem on both user association and dynamic ON/OFF scheme of BSs to maximizing the spectral/energy efficiency of the network. Numerical simulations using developed system level simulator are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization scheme.
