Performance characteristics of feature detection scheme using Cyclic Prefix (CP) in OFDM and its applications

(in English) From the viewpoint of the efficient use of frequency resources in mobile radio service, the authors have been investigating the feature detection scheme using the Cyclic Prefix (CP) which is usually attached in OFDM signal. The detection scheme is basically essential, which is used for the sensing technology in recent advanced system such as the Device-to-Device (D-to-D) and Machine-to-machine (M-to-M) communications. The scheme indicated here is firstly to obtain the conjugate product of the OFDM signal and its delayed signal, then take Fourier transformation of such product, which is called Cyclostationary Autocorrelation Function (CAF) addressing the cyclostationarity nature. In this report, several performance characteristics of the signal in the process of feature detection are firstly described in the analytical expression, which is derived by the stochastic theory and spectral analysis. Since the analysis is not able to cover all characteristic, some issues are supplemented by the software simulation. Some application measures are also addressed such as estimation method of input C/N at the receiver, system discrimination scheme by using different CP length, and timing offset detection method, in the situation that two systems using OFDM signal are operated in the same frequency band. These technologies will contribute to efficient use of limited frequency resources, since new communication system should share them with the existing system.
