Theoretical Error Rate Analysis of Trellis Shaping Systems with M-QAM Constellations
Ryota Yoshizawa, Hideki Ochiai (Yokohama Nat. Univ.) RCS2014-312
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Trellis shaping (TS), originally proposed by Forney in 1992 for average power reduction of quadrature ampliture modulation (QAM) signals, is a signal control technique using the structure of convolutional code, and recently, TS has been applied to peak-to-average power (PAPR) reduction of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals. Even though the TS has been well studied in the literature so far, most existing works on TS investigate its performance based on Monte-Carlo simulation and the theoretical analysis methods for TS have not been developed at all. Therefore, in this paper, we develop a theoretical bit error rate (BER) as well as the symbol error rate (SER) of TS.
