A study on transmission protocols in vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative communication using relay node

(in English) In wireless communication in intelligent transport systems (ITS), it is required that information of car status is transmitted to a base station with low-latency and high-quality. However, due to the fading caused by car mobility, transmission errors sometimes occur, which results in the use of repeat request and in the high latency. To avoid this, the vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative transmission will effective where the relay terminal (car) receives data from neighbor cars and forwards them to the base station. It is not clarified, however, what protocol is suitable for the vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative communication. Therefore, we propose a new vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative transmission scheme for vehicle-to-infrastructure uplink, and the performances of amplify-and-forward (AF), decode-and-forward (DF), digital network coding (DNC), and analog network coding (ANC) transmissions are compared by computer simulations. Then, it is shown that the AF relay scheme has the best bit error rate performance and ANC relay scheme has the better performance while the number of required resources is reduced than DNC scheme.
