Experimentation of TCP Congestion Avoidance Method for Video Streaming Applications

(in English) Video streaming has become the major source of Internet traffic nowadays. Most of the traffic for video streaming is delivered over TCP transport protocol. However, TCP variants widely used may not perform well
for video streaming. So far, we have proposed several mechanisms within TCP slow start to enhance video streaming experience. In this paper, we propose a control mechanism within TCP congestion avoidance, and evaluate its performance with open source network experiments. We show that performance improvements can be obtained if the playout buffer is used by TCP congestion avoidance.
