[Poster Presentation] Beamforming with reflector by using array manifold vector based on the FDTD method

(in English) Recently, a microphone array with a reflector, which uses the acoustical information produced by the reflector such as reflections and diffractions, has been investigated to suppress the ambient noise. By using the reflection or diffraction information, as the differences between the transmission characteristics of the two closely located sound sources are enhanced, the microphone array can separate these two source signals. However, if a reflector with a complex shape is used, obtaining transmission characteristics that have to be set in advance, such as the array manifold vector, becomes complicated. A method to obtain the transmission characteristics is the measurement of the impulse responses; however, the measurements of the actual data are often cumbersome. Therefore, to determine the transmission characteristics, we considered performing a series of simulations based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. We evaluated the noise suppression performance for the microphone array using the transmission characteristics created by the FDTD simulation for a parabola reflector and a circular disc. The results showed that it is possible to sufficiently suppress the noise by the proposed method, although the bandwidth was less than 2 kHz.
