Redundancy adjustment method for TCP Congestion Control based on FEC for Improving Throughput over WLAN

(in English) With the rapid spread of wireless LAN and increase of mobile devices, streaming services have been increased over wireless LAN.
UDP had been often used as a transport layer protocol in real-time communication. However, because the communication using UDP may be rejected by network devices, the streaming communication using TCP has been increasing.
Here, the communication using TCP has a problem that the throughput is not stable due to the congestion control caused by a packet loss.
Thus, TCP control for securing a required transfer rate of streaming communications, TCP-AFEC, using Forward Error Correction(FEC) technology has been proposed. TCP-AFEC can control the transfer rate appropriately according to the network condition by using combination of TCP congestion control and the FEC. However, because TCP-AFEC were not developed for WLAN, it requires a certain time to set the appropriate redundancy and cannot obtain the required throughput. In this paper, we show the drawback of TCP-AFEC and propose a redundancy determination method that can secure a required throughput. As a result of simulation, we found that the proposed method can obtain the stable throughput than TCP-AFEC.
