Total variation regularization of diffusion weighted images for reducing noise of diffusional kurtosis MRI

(in English) Diffusional kurtosis imaging (DKI) is an MR imaging method for quantifying non-Gaussianity of water molecule based on a set of diffusion weighted images (DWI) of several magnitude of motion probing gradient. It is observed that noise in DWI causes pepper-like noise on subsequent kurtosis images by computation error. We aimed at reduction of the computation error by using total variation (TV) regularization of the set of DW. By using a synthetic data set and a clinical brain data set of a healthy volunteer, we confirmed the effect of TV regularization.
