Performance Evaluation of Channel Utilization Based Transmission Channel Switching Scheme in ROD-SAN

(in English) A wireless sensor and actuator network (WSAN) is expected as a technology for achieving Machine-to–Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT).
Sensor and actuators constructing a WSAN can achieve lower energy consumption by a duty cycling.
However, the duty cycling may decrease the response performance of each node, because it cannot transmit a data until neighboring node switches to an active mode.
Therefore, we have develop the Radio-On-Demand Sensor and Actuator Network (ROD-SAN) in order to achieve both power-saving and high response.
Although each sensor with wake-up receiver can switch to Sleep/Active mode on demand in ROD-SAN, a communication performance decreases due to a collision among sensors because sensors don’t have a channel adjustment scheme.
Thus, we propose the transmission channel switching scheme based on channel utilization, and
we evaluate the effectiveness of this scheme by simulations.
