| (in English) | We have been doing R&D and filed experiment of a mesh-topological wireless network “NerveNet” towards realizing a resilient regional network. NerveNet is composed of multiple interconnected basestations that accommodate devices. Each basestation has functions of database as well as packet routing, enabling NerveNet to provide communication and information services as much as possible even it has some failures or it is disconnected from the Internet in emergency situations. NICT and Shirahama town will start a collaborative field experiment of the network in the town this year. Nine basestations will be installed in the town and its suburb. Five of them will provide WiFi access to users. Field experiments will be carried out focusing on emergency applications such as safety confirmation and evacuation route guidance which uses information processing functions of each basestation. This article describes an overview of the experiment plan. | |
