Accurate Source Number Detection for Low-Cost Array Antenna Based on Expanded Array Processing

(in English) This paper proposes an accurate source number detection method for low-cost array system based on expanded array processing.Estimation accuracies of source number and Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) can be enhanced by increasing the number of array elements, but it is often limited due to their hardware and software costs.The authors have already proposed a low-cost array receiver system using switches which can reduce the number of receiver hardware costs while preserving high DOA estimation accuracy.However, source number information is required in advance of estimating DOAs.The proposed source number detection method for low-cost array antenna is based on the characteristics of Toeplitz matrix, synthesizes array input signals, and will improve source number estimation accuracy.
Performance of the proposed method is evaluated through computer simulation.
