Power Transfer System by a Beamed Radio for a Relatively Short Haul

(in English) This paper proposes a technology and system which transfer energy by wireless means in a relatively short haul. Input power is converted to microwave, and propagates to the receiving site. The microwave is reconverted to DC or AC power, and is output to users. Next, we describe the terms to be studied for the system realization. In the first term, the beam propagation characteristics are analyzed. It is shown that the beam can be focused due to the relatively short haul, and that the receiving antenna can be consequently made small in size. Concentration of power in a beam is beneficial to lessen the interference with other radio systems. In the second term, semiconductors in the input and output which generate microwave, and to rectify in a large amount of power are explained in terms of their characteristics. Finally, we quote some applications of the technologies that could be utilized in many social aspects.
