Study on the gain-control accuracy of all-optical AGC scheme for multi-core EDFAs

(in English) For realizing long distance ultra-high capacity optical transmission systems in the future, novel spatial division multiplexing technologies such as multicore fiber (MCF) and few-mode fiber (FMF) transmission has been intensively studied. As inline amplifiers of MCF transmission systems, multicore EDFAs (MC-EDFAs) has attracted considerable attention. Especially, the MC-EDFA using a shared pump light source for its cores is expected to yield high pumping efficiency and low power consumption. In this paper, we report study on the gain control accuracy of all-optical feed-forward AGC for a MC-EDFA pumped by a shared pump light source.
