Verification of Maximum Coupling Coefficient of Solenoid-Type Inductors for Wireless Power Transfer System for PHEV/EV Charging

(in English) A resonator for 7 kW-class wireless power transfer/transmission (WPT) systems at 85 kHz has been developed for contactless electric vehicle (PHEV/EV) charging. The coil-to-coil efficiency of the wireless transfer systems using a magnetic coupling depends on the coupling of the inductors in the resonators and the losses (eddy current loss and core loss). The maximum of the coupling coefficient for the resonator’s footprint is verified in order to optimize a core shape of the solenoid-type inductor in the resonator.
