| (in English) | Software Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are today's significant movements which innovate network devices, systems, and the entire network architecture. They have been actively discussed among leading national carriers and telecommunication standards developing organizations. From the essence of NFV, it creates a new network structure paradigm which composed of simplified physical layer device plus high volume IT products such as server, storage, and switch instead of current network structure composed of various function oriented telecom devices. In this session, authors are trying to capture the latest status of NFV in the telecommunication industry along with the story that; revisit NFV definition, introduce SDN and NFV activities in various SDOs, new optical access use cases and interest in NFV, recent discussion for NFV applications, and summary with expected movements. |
