Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We propose a distributed adaptive transmission power control method based on soft fractional frequency reuse (SFR) for cellular downlink using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). The proposed method adaptively controls the base station (BS) transmission power and power allocation to the protected and non-protected bands in SFR dependent on the user distribution within a cell, aiming at the maximization of the geometric mean of the user throughput (in other words, log sum of user throughput), thus, proportional fair (PF) criteria. While our previously reported method assume constant total BS transmission power, the proposed method of this manuscript controls the total BS transmission power to reduce the inter-cell interference in addition to the control of the power allocation to the protected and non-protected bands. The proposed method is a decentralized approach, in which a complicated inter-BS cooperation is not required. Since the optimal BS transmission power and power allocation to the protected and non-protected bands is dependent on the resource allocation of protected and non-protected bands to respective users, the proposed method jointly optimizes the BS transmission power, power allocation ratio and resource allocation to users by using the 3-step iterative algorithm. Computer simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method compared to conventional universal frequency reuse (UFR) and fixed frequency reuse.
