The research and development on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have been aggressively conducted in recent years. The WSNs require low power operation due to the limited buttery drive, as well as high data collection performance. The duty cycle operation and clustering techniques are one of the promising approaches to achieve these requirements. To maintain better network performance for always, however, the WSNs have to cope with network fluctuations, such as traffic fluctuation and topology change. In this report, the adaptive MAC mechanisms for dealing with these network fluctuations are introduced for cluster based WSNs employing IEEE802.15.4 beacon mode. |
