Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications by Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices are envisioned to be accommodated in mobile communication systems by employing random access techniques. In order to accommodate a large number of MTC devices using a limited frequency band, it is required to improve the resource utilization efficiency. A random access scheme called CRDSA, which exploits the interference cancellation (IC) techniques, has been proposed to improve the resource utilization efficiency. In CRDSA, each device transmits multiple packets redundantly, and the receiver resolves the packet collisions by using the IC technique with successfully decoded packets. However, in CRDSA, MTC devices need to transmit the same multiple packets for the use of IC, which increases the power consumption of MTC devices. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest employing relaying to realize redundant transmissions of the same packets instead of MTC devices. With computer simulations, we show that the proposed random access exploiting IC techniques and relaying can improve the resource utilization efficiency while reducing the required transmission power of each MTC device.
