[Invited Talk] Radio-on-Demand Networks for Green Wireless Networks

(in English) Power saving of network devices is very important research issue. In particular, early realization of power saving of wireless devices increasing rapidly is expected.
In contrast to this, we have been researching the Radio On Demand Networks (ROD) that provides a wireless access for query of communication anytime and anywhere. In ROD, wireless devices change to a sleep mode autonomously when the amount of communication itself is reduced. Furthermore, the devices in ROD have the wake-up receiver with ultra low power consumption, and switch to active mode in case that the wake-up receiver receives a wake-up signal that extends a conventional radio wave used for data communication. So far, we have adapted the ROD technology in a wireless LAN, and implemented on-demand access point and relational technologies for wireless LAN.
In addition, we have been studying and implementing the Radio-On-Demand Sensor and Actuator Networks (ROD-SAN) system architecture which allows the efficient use of electrical power and the improvement of response time in Wireless Sensor and Actuator Node. In this paper, we introduce an overview of the ROD-SAN.
