[Poster Presentation] On improving the intelligibility of speech captured with a unidirectional microphone-array
Yuki Abe, Takeshi Saitou, Masato Miyoshi (Kanazawa Univ.) EA2014-56
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Using a sharp directional beam seems very effective to record distant speech. In this paper, we are studying the following methods to improve the intelligibility of captured speech whose signal-to-noise ratio deteriorates when the aperture length of a microphone-array is shortened.
(1) Using an HPF (High-pass filters) where frequency characteristics correspond to the inverse of the directional beam.
(2) Controlling the average pitch frequency and the pitch frequency range of captured speech.
