Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Authors have studied the degradation phenomenon of electrical contact under the influences of an external micro-oscillation. They have developed a mechanism which supplies damped vibration to electrical contacts by periodical hammering-oscillations (HOM). And they have also developed another mechanism which gives reciprocal micro-sliding to electrical contacts driven by a magmetostrictive actuator (MSM1). It is shown that each mechanism is able to simulate an actual degradation phenomenon on electrical contacts under the influence of micro-oscillation.
In this paper, they analyse the transient response and steady-state one using theoretical inputs developed by Fourier series and the analytical outputs when input waveform is sinusoidal, rectangular, or quasi-impulsive. Following the characteristics of input waveform, the kinetic nature of the system has the effects on the output waveform which are remarkable in case of rectangular or quasi-impulsive input. If the input is quasi-impulsive one whose application time is finite but very short and the value r is smaller than 0.005, it is shown that there are characteristics of input waveform and output one.
In addition, they analyse the mechanism of collision between oscillating objects and oscillated ones theoretically and experimentally the characteristics. Loads, impulses, and accelerations in oscillating are almost in proportion to the initial heights of the oscillating objects. On the other hand, the duration times of contact are most in proportion to the weights of the oscillating objects. And it is indicated that the applied impulse is constant on the oscillation by the hammering oscillation mechanism (HOM).
