A study of low loss design technique for planar transformer in high frequency isolated DC-DC converter

(in English) In this paper, in order to optimize winding structure of planar transformer in 5MHz LLC resonant converter, the planar transformer of the three type winding structure having a leakage inductance is considered, and these planar transformers are simulated by using the electromagnetic field simulation Maxwell 3D. Power efficiency and transformer power loss are compared in the load range of 1-10A by circuit analysis simulator using the parameters obtained in the electromagnetic field analysis simulator. LLC resonant converter mounted on planar transformer of winding structure which circuit power efficiency is maximized over a wide load range is experimented. The specifications of the converter are 48V of input voltage, 12V of output voltage, 120W of output power, 5MHz of switching frequency. As a result, 90.8% maximum efficiency and 15.05cm3 volumes LLC resonant converter can be realized.
