Orthogonal linearly polarized antenna combined with MIMO technology has been researched and applied to mobile communications system. With respect to LTE-Advanced, picocell base stations are assumed to be collocated with macrocell area for managing huge traffic by 100MHz bandwidth at 3.5GHz band. Further, the street cell model is considered as one of cell shaping methods at main streets in urban area because an amount of car traffics and the number of pedestrians are huge in such area. In the street cell model, base station antenna shall be set at lower position compared to that of conventional base stations and form the communication area along the road. In this study, orthogonal linearly polarized MIMO antenna is applied to the street cell model and calculate reflection coefficients arise at outside wall of buildings and road surface. In addition, the condition number which represents the separation properties of MIMO technology is analyzed for evaluating the MIMO performance in the street cell. From the analytical results, it is confirmed that the orthogonal linearly polarized MIMO enhances communication capacity at close range such as 20 meters from the base station in particular, and the condition number changes in accordance with communication distance. |
