[Invited Lecture] Study on Linear Cell Constitution for High-Speed Mobile Communication

(in English) Nowadays, broadband communication service even in high-speed land-mobile scenario has attracted much attention, and linear cell concepts have already been proposed as promising constitutions to realize it. Distributed antenna network (DAN), in which antennas are deployed along the moving direction of mobile stations, is one of the linear cell concepts. DAN can be divided into two consitutions; one is a consititution using omni-directional antennas, and the other is a Narrow Beamwidth DAN (NBDAN) consititution using narrow directional antennas. This paper clarifies the features and problems of both DAN and NBDAN, and proposes a novel NBDAN constitution which can achieve stable and high-quality performance in the cell. The proposed method, which is referred to as Advanced NBDAN (A-NBDAN), can reduce the influence of ISI and NCI by adjusting transmit timing and power allocation for the antennas. To evaluate the effectiveness of A-NBDAN, several cell configurations are examined assuming 500MHz bandwidth at carrier frequency of 46GHz. This paper demonstrates that those configurations with A-NBDAN can satisfy the required SINR for whole area in both of no-rain and heavy-rain (30mm/h) environments.
