Uncertainty of the dipole antenna factor at an arbitrary height above a ground plane
Takehiro Morioka (AIST), Kazuhiro Hirasawa (Univ. of Tsukuba) EMCJ2014-71
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The antenna factor (AF) is a coefficient transducing the E-field strength at the antenna location to the terminal voltage across a load. Since the antenna characteristics are affected by the measurement environment, the AF should be calibrated with the specific condition. When the measurement is carried out above the ground plane, the AF may deviate from the free space AF by a few dB due to the ground coupling especially for the horizontal polarization. In the present paper a simple method is proposed to obtain the AF at an arbitral height above the ground plane. The associated uncertainty with this method is evaluated by the conventional method and the Monte Carlo method (MCM).
