Efficient Communication Strategy among Web Cache Servers using SDN

(in English) It is important to improve communication efficiency by reducing traffic size in order to deal with advanced and various network demands. Communication routes are usually selected from the minimal paths, however, adaptive routing is necessary because the network conditions are dynamically changeable. Software Defined Networking (SDN) makes it possible to develop a method of routing control depending on bandwidth, latency, packet loss probability and traffic size. Since non-minimal routing increases routing hops, it could also increase total traffic size which is proportional to the hop counts. Hence, reduction of the traffic size by caching contents have to be implemented together. In this paper, we propose an efficient communication strategy among Web cache servers using SDN. We develop a routing control program which selects higher bandwidth paths and install it on each cache server. An experimental result shows that the file download time up to 57% and the traffic size by 44% are reduced through the influence of routing control and contents caching compared with usual network.
