In dealing with medical information of patients through the network, high-level security is required. The Security Guidelines for Health Information Systems issued by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare stipulates that proper measures should be taken for the network to avoid the risk of forming a virtual detour which can be used to steal the patient data. For this reason many medical institutions are forced to use several network lines separately for the corresponding services bearing the expense and inconvenience of usages. To solve this problem, we suggest a new secure network implementation method using single-line network for small-scale medical institute by arranging the OpenFlow control technology with Healthcare PKI over the conventional dynamic on-demand VPN. The network works with control based on the user certification responding their qualification, such as a medical doctor, written in the HPKI digital certificates. We developed a simple network system adopting our new method, and confirmed the effectiveness of our idea through the experiment. |
