Impact of Router Buffer Size on TCP/UDP with 802.11g Performance.

(in English) The buffer size of bottleneck router in the dumbbell network is studied. Each network end nodes are connected with wireless IEEE 802.11g devices. The size of buffer is varied and its effects on the performance is measured by simulation on network simulation 2 (NS2). Throughput, congestion window size and packet loss are calculated as the performance parameters. The queue management methods are drop tail and random early detection on TCP_Reno and UDP transmission. The simulation results show that TCP throughput is increasing and UDP packet loss is decreasing with the bigger router buffer size also.
