Continuous-time method based on dose-volume constrained optimization for intensity-modulated radiation therapy treatment planning

(in English) The intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) plans include an optimization strategy for minimizing an objective function of radiation beam weights. In this study, we consider the concept meaning the condition that satisfies the dose-volume constraints in the IMRT planning system. For this purpose, we present a nonlinear dynamical system based on a dose-volume constrained optimization, which enables us to decrease an objective function monotonically by applying an initial-value problem for the differential equation to the IMRT inverse problems. The performance of the proposed system is confirmed by means of numerical experiments using a phantom under conditions simulating clinical radiation therapy.
