A Consideration on Simple Decoupling Circuit without Three-dimensional Structure for MIMO Antennas

(in English) Recently, the MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology has been introduced into the portable terminals corresponding to the increase of the demand for the high-speed communications.
On the other hand, it is difficult to arrange the antenna elements separating enough in a small equipment such as portable terminals.
Since the element spacing of the MIMO antennas is very narrow in that case, the performance of MIMO is degraded due to the increase of mutual coupling between antenna signals in the terminal.
For removing the strong mutual coupling, decoupling circuits have been proposed, and it has been shown that it is possible to achieve high radiation efficiency of the MIMO antennas.
However, the structures of the decoupling circuits are complicated and hence simplification of the circuits is required in order to implement MIMO antennas in the mobile terminals.
In this paper, we design and discuss the simple decoupling circuit without three-dimensional structures in a two-element array antenna.
In addition, we propose a simplified decoupling method for the three-element array antenna.
By computer simulation, we show that high channel capacity can be obtained by the array antenna with a narrow element spacing.
