Field Experiments on MIMO Antennas for Small Cell Base Stations in 3.5GHz Band

(in English) Small cells have attracted a lot of attention to improve data throughput and frequency utilization efficiency for the 4th generation mobile communication systems. The 3.5GHz frequency band which is higher than the conventional frequency bands for the mobile communication systems is suitable for use in the small cells due to the propagation characteristic. On the other hand, since the size of antenna in 3.5GHz band is smaller than those in the conventional bands, the MIMO with multi-antennas is suitable for the 3.5GHz band to improve data throughput. This report investigates the evaluation on a polarized and spatial MIMO, and 2x2, 4x4, and 8x8 MIMO transmission for small cell base stations in 3.5GHz band through the field experiments in urban area.
