Highly Efficient SIMD Data Path for Motion Estimation

(in English) Recently, in the need for video encoding of high definition increasing, although video coding standard H.265 with the compression performance of 2 times compared with conventional is standardized, by increasing in the amount of processing, it is difficult to bring out original the compression performance. Especially, in the motion estimation processing occupying most of the encode processing, because it cannot implement speed demand, it has to sacrifice search accuracy is affected compression rate. This paper proposes two highly efficient SIMD data path for motion estimation. One is a data path of the special-oriented, and the other is a data path of the general-purpose-oriented that adds some function to the previous SIMD data path. For each method, we show instruction subset and the number of steps of the block matching process for SUC pattern and square pattern to compare the performance of the motion estimation. As a result, we speed up about 11.65 times in the special-oriented and about 7.91 times in the general-purpose-oriented compared to previous MPSADBW.
