We performed winter experiments for evaluation on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals affected by deep snow and snow accretion to antenna in winter seasons of 2011/2012 and 2012/2013. This report describes quantitative evaluation results on propagation delay concerning deep snow and snow accretion to antenna in comparison between GNSS received signals and meteorological observational measurements using observational data set of the winter of 2011/2012. We extracted propagation delay in the zenith direction from GNSS signals received by antenna on the ground (in the bottom of deep snow) and compared the result with meteorological measurements such as snow depth and snow weight. Variation tendency of estimated propagation delay during the winter period is consistent with one of snow weight measurement. |
