The effective wavelength in the solution, becomes shorter than free space, but it is not able to ignore the loss due to the solution so that the electromagnetic wave cannot be detected before reaching to the distance which satisfies far-field condition. For this reason, it is required to estimate far-field gain from measured $S$ parameters in the near-field region of the antennas. In this paper, some methods for measuring the near-field gain immersed in the solution as well as their theoretical background are described and some expermental results are presented. |
