This paper presents a bilateral MIMO-OTA evaluation apparatus for measuring the channel capacity of uplink as well as downlink channels. Firstly, the structure of a RF controlled spatial fading emulator is introduced. The proposed fading emulator has a high bilateral characteristic and high time correlation coefficient. The measurements of channel capacity using a 2×2 MIMO array antenna both in uplink and downlink channels at the same frequency were carried out. The results show that the channel capacity of uplink and downlink channel agrees well with the analytical outcomes, demonstrating the effectiveness of proposed bilateral MIMO-OTA apparatus that can evaluate the MIMO channel capacity in considerations of the different terminal antenna performance both in uplink and downlink channels. |
