[Poster Presentation] A QoE-Based Back-off Time Control for CSMA Wireless Feedback Control

(in English) In factories, the number of control systems frequently changes and they operate independently, so distributed radio resource management scheme must be suited for them. Therefore, one candidate of medium access control is a random access protocol such as Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) scheme, but CSMA scheme has a problem of packet collision. On the other hand, in feedback control, control commands from controller and sensed data from plant take numerical values, so when observing the temporal variations of them, their importance can be estimated.
In this paper, we propose a Quality of Experience (QoE)-based CSMA scheme which adjusts the back-off interval according to the estimated importance of data to be transmitted. Namely, when calculating the time difference of control commands, the larger difference implies that the data is more important, so the transmitter sets the back-off interval shorter to get a chance to access the channel more quickly, on the other hand, the smaller difference implies that the data is less important, so the transmitter sets the back-off interval longer to give other systems chances to access the channel. In this way, the QoE-based CSMA scheme can reduce packet collision by means of packet prioritization using estimated data importance. In computer simulation, we compare the performances among the proposed QoE-based CSMA scheme and other conventional schemes assuming a rotational inverted pendulum for each feedback control system.
