The number of patients requiring rehabilitation rises as society ages. Shortages of hospital care workers will become a problem. Measurement of the motion range of joints is key in caring for patients. Expensive motion range measurement equipment is currently used. The paper proposes reasonably priced equipment that measures the 3D coordinates of large joints without attaching sensing devices to patients. It has been named the DOCTOR’S EYE and it makes use of KINECT on a truck in order to take patient measurements. It captures and records 3D coordinates from a patient’s 20 joints as the patient walks. The DOCTOR’S EYE can also display 4 views, i.e.: front, right side, left side and an overhead based on the recorded data. |
