This paper presents a calibration method for the OTA testing of active MIMO antennas. An active antenna combines two received signals of two orthogonal antennas using the weighting function. For the purpose of confirming the validity of an active antenna, the radiation pattern and MIMO channel capacity of the MIMO antenna using 2-element antenna, which is mounted on the tablet handset, was measured in an anechoic chamber and fading emulator, respectively. A proposed calibration method considers the difference between the active antenna measurement and reference level measurement. The result shows that the measured results agree well with the analytical outcome, demonstrating that a calibration method for the OTA testing of active MIMO antennas is effect. |
