Numerical Simulation of Far-Field Gain Determination for Broadband Antennas at Reduced Distances
Katsushige Harima (NICT) AP2014-54
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report describes the numerical analysis of the gain variation that exists in gain measurements based on the Friis transmission formula for double-ridged guide horns widely used as broadband antennas in EMC testing. The analyses are performed by using the method of moments with higher-order basis functions. In addition, we decide the antenna phase center by exploiting the distance dependence of the gain i.e., using the gain-fitting method. Simulation results show the effectiveness of using the phase center to accurately determine the far-field gain at reduced antenna separation distances.
