Numerical Simulation of Far-Field Gain Determination for Broadband Antennas at Reduced Distances Katsushige Harima (NICT) AP2014-54 |

This report describes the numerical analysis of the gain variation that exists in gain measurements based on the Friis transmission formula for double-ridged guide horns widely used as broadband antennas in EMC testing. The analyses are performed by using the method of moments with higher-order basis functions. In addition, we decide the antenna phase center by exploiting the distance dependence of the gain i.e., using the gain-fitting method. Simulation results show the effectiveness of using the phase center to accurately determine the far-field gain at reduced antenna separation distances. |
