Coding with a Fidelity Criterion Allowing Some Overflow Probability

(in English) This paper describes $varepsilon$-achievable rate of variable length coding with a fidelity criterion for general sources. Related to $varepsilon$-optimum rate, the strong converse property is introduced, and a necessary and sufficient condition for strong converse is provided. A tight relationship between the variable-length coding allowing the overflow probability up to $varepsilon$ and fixed-length coding allowing the excess distortion probability up to $varepsilon$ with a fidelity criterion is discussed.
