Rheology measurement of emulsions with EMS Viscometer
Miki Nakamura, Masanori Yasuda, Sanae Kanji (KEM), Keiji Sakai (Tokyo Univ.) US2014-25
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Electro-Magnetically Spinning (EMS) viscometer applies remote torque to a sphere probe in the sample from outside of a sample container, therefore, it can measure the viscosity with a non-contact manner. The applied torque can be controlled in this system, therefore, it can observe the sample state at the limit of low shear rate. With the system, we measured the rheological properties of the milky lotions, those are typical commercially available emulsions, and investigated the relation between the viscosity and the microstructure of emulsions in the coarsening process of oil particles dispersed in water.
