Analysis of the Robustness of Degree Centrality against Random Errors in Graphs

(in English) Network analyses, which analyze the topological structure of large-scale complex networks such as social networks, brain function networks, and protein interaction networks, have been actively performed. The networks used for network analyses generally contain several errors since it is not easy to accurately and completely identify relationships among nodes in the networks. In this paper, we analyze the robustness of centrality measure, which is widely used in network analyses. We analyze the stability of node rankings based on degree centrality against several types of errors. We derive Top$_m$ and Overlap$_m$, which evaluate the robustness of node ranking. Moreover, using our analytical model, we investigate the effects of three types of errors (i.e., missing nodes, missing links, and false links) on the node ranking based on degree centrality.
