Design and Performance of a DC Subcarrier Shift-DFT Spreading OFDM Scheme for PAPR Reduction

(in English) An OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) scheme has been widely used in wireless LAN etc. because of its robustness to frequency selective fading. However it has a drawback of large PAPR (Peak to Average Power Ratio) since it is a multi-carrier transmission scheme. In order to apply DFTs-OFDM (DFT spreading OFDM) for PAPR reduction, it is required to be robust against DC offset error for cost-effective implementation. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a DC-subcarrier shift DFT spreading OFDM scheme to avoid BER performance degradation due to DC offset error, where only DC subcarrier is shifted to another subcarrier position in the transmitter side and it is shifted back to the original subcarrier position in the demodulation side. This paper also describes performance evaluation results by computer simulation.
